Development Co-operation Report 2019: A Fairer, Greener, Safer Tomorrow
The Development Co-operation Report 2019, entitled A Fairer, Greener, Safer Tomorrow was published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in December 2019.
The report provides evidence, analysis and examples that aim to reinvigorate public and political debates at home and build momentum for the global solutions that today's challenges demand, OECD says.
In the report, the authors point out the need for a new development co-operation narrative to counter scepticism about development actors and to engage youth and citizens. A new narrative could explain to a wider public what development co-operation is, how it operates and why it is needed. The report concludes with a Call to Action for a change in course for development co-operation in the 21st century.
The report comprises two chapters. The first chapter sheds a light on development co-operation today. It makes the case for a change of course that features a new narrative and more tangible action.
The second chapter contains one-page infographics that provide an overview of emerging trends and insights regarding official development finance and presents individual profiles with key data and policy priorities of official and philanthropic providers of aid, official development assistance and development finance.
It also includes annual “development co-operation at a glance” data for over 80 providers of development co-operation, including members of the OECD, the Development Assistance Committee, other countries and philanthropic foundations. These profiles complement Development Co-operation Profiles 2019 web books.
