Tourism - International cooperation perspectives

Tourism is a multi-faceted realm of international cooperation. In development policy circles, interest in the sector is growing. At the same time, demands placed on the professional handling of development issues are mounting. The article provides an overview of the evolution and linkages of tourism-related issues in the international context. Finally it identifies key characteristics of the sector that are the source of its relevance to development policy.
