Guidelines for tackling the food crisis and competition for land

Access to land is essential for food security. The promotion of secure and fair access and land-use rights and the promotion of agriculture and rural development are central promotion approaches of German development cooperation. The use of the voluntary Right to Food guidelines and the development and use of voluntary guidelines for good governance in land and natural resource tenure are major steps to improve the security of land rights and implement the human right to food in developing countries. When solving the increasing number of land conflicts today, it is important that these    guidelines be respected and promoted by development cooperation as an internationally recognised reference framework.
