Mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in agriculture and rural livelihoods

Mainstreaming HIV and AIDS is confronted with several challenges; the three most important for capacity development are: lack of skills and experiences with mainstreaming; intimate and personal issues inherent to HIV/AIDS-related work; AIDS still often is considered a health issue. The exposure of key stakeholders to new thinking, emerging concepts for mainstreaming HIV and AIDS in the agricultural sector is instrumental if managed by coordinated capacity development and can help to speed up the pace in bringing HIV and AIDS issues to the food security agenda.
