Protecting biodiversity is closely linked to food security. The world community has set itself the task of halving the number of people suffering from hunger worldwide by the year 2015. Faced with climate change, the rising demand for land to produce biofuels and the rapid decline in biodiversity, interlinking nature conservation and local development is becoming increasingly important. In a new regional cooperation project, German Agro Action and the tropical forest foundation Oroverde are helping to establish these connections and, together with partners, developing new approaches to interlink nature protection and food security.
