Outcome report of an EU FOOD 2030 conference in 2017

The FOOD 2030 outcome report provides an overview of the key messages and conclusions of the conference on research and innovations of the European Union with regard to Food Nutrition and Security (FNS). The report will feed into the 2nd FOOD2030 High Level Event to be held in Plovdiv/Bulgaria in June 2018.

The FOOD 2030 conference, entitled "Harnessing Research and Innovation for FOOD 2030: A science policy dialogue", was held on the occasion of World Food Day in Brussels/Belgium on the 16th October 2017. The aim of this event was to disseminate successful European Research and Innovation (R&I) outcomes and case studies relevant to Food Nutrition and Security (FNS), and to contribute to the on-going science-policy dialogue in the area of FNS.

The conference provided a stakeholder platform to assess the current state of European research, innovation and investment and to explore the future needs relevant to the FNS priorities:

  • food system innovation and empowerment of communities
  • sustainable and healthy nutrition
  • climate-resilience and environmental sustainability
  • circularity and resource efficiency

The outcome report of the conference provides an overview of its key messages and conclusions. It gives an outline of the main issues raised by keynote speakers as well as a summary of the main points raised during the four conference sessions on the FOOD 2030 priorities.

The FOOD 2030 conference built on the first FOOD 2030 High Level Event (HLE) held in Brussels on the 12th and 13th October 2016, and the results will feed into the second event of this kind, which to be held under the Bulgarian Presidency in Plovdiv on the 14th and 15th June 2018.
