DLG International was once again involved in the preparation of the German Pavilion at Agritech Expo Zambia, which took place on the grounds of the Golden Valley Agriculture Research Trust (GART) in Chisamba from the 27th to the 29th April 2017. For the second time, the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) had a presence there with an official joint stand.
The exhibition itself is a business-to-business platform for agricultural professionals, from small-scale farmers to commercial enterprises, to engage and conduct business with some of the world’s leading suppliers to the agricultural industry. Its features range from crop trials and machinery demonstrations to technical and practical workshops for emerging farmers and VIP business lounges for commercial players.
The fair drew a record-breaking number of 18,045 visitors, and even more small-scale, emerging and commercial farmers came to descend on the GART research farm in the heart of Zambia’s agri-hub.
A total of 242 national and international exhibitors from 11 countries presented innovations and solutions to agricultural problems and issues across six hectares of exhibition space to the trade visitors. Many of them were from the various regions of Zambia, although the number of visitors from neighbouring countries was up compared with last year.
The first day of the exhibition was explicitly aimed at commercial agricultural entrepreneurs and featured companies from across the entire agricultural supply chain. Current agricultural issues were highlighted for the enthusiastic trade visitors in a series of workshops and presentations.
