A new report by the High Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) of the Committee on World Food Securi-ty (CFS) takes a close look at where and how food waste occurs and recommends a number of actions that could help reduce the 1.3 billion tonnes of food that are squandered worldwide each year.
The report, Food losses and waste in the context of sustainable food systems, was published in June 2014.
It provides a systematic analysis of the impacts of food losses and waste on the sustainability of food systems and on food security and nutrition, and also provides action-oriented recom-mendations that governments, companies and individuals can take to tackle the problem.
