DLG goes to Asia
The DLG will hold Field Days in the Indian Federal State of Gujarat for the second time on 23/24 February. According to a DLG press release, this year's Field Days will add wheat cultivation to its portfolio besides potatoes. The entire value chain will be presented, with all stages in cultivation and demonstrations of machinery. The DLG also reports that during the two-day event in Dhansura, Gujarat, the exhibitors will present the processes from soil tillage through plant protection and fertilisation to sowing and harvesting. Indian and German partners will work closely together to provide a suitable platform for interested exhibitors and visitors.
The DLG also announced that it will participate in the Agrotech-Agropars (International Exhibition for Agricultural Machineries, Horticulture Equipment, Fertilisers, Pesticides, Seeds and Water Supply) at the end of April in Shiraz, Iran. According to the DLG, Iran has just under 80 million inhabitants and a GDP of USD 394 million (2014), and is already an important market for the European agricultural machinery industry. The Iranian Ministry of Agriculture is reported to have promised subsidies for purchasing innovative machinery and technology and for investment in irrigation systems. This gives new significance to the 12th International Exhibition for Agricultural Machineries, Horticulture Equipment, Fertilisers, Pesticides, Seeds and Water Supply, which will take place from 26-29 April 2016 at the Fars International Exhibition Centre in Shiraz, capital of the Iranian province of Fars, which is described as a platform for the long-awaited restoration of business with Iran. As DLG explains, Agrotech-Agropars is the largest and most important agricultural machinery trade fair in Iran, organised by DLG International GmbH and the Iranian trade fair company Negah Sabz Pars (NSP). The DLG also reports that the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture will have an official German joint stand in the International Hall.
DLG and Iranian Ministry of Agriculture agree on cooperation
Flanking the Green Week, the DLG and the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture signed an agreement on cooperation in developing Iranian agriculture. According to the DLG, the agreement was signed by DLG President Carl-Albrecht Bartmer, DLG CEO Dr Reinhard Grandke and Abdolmahdi Bakhshandeh, Iranian Deputy Minister of Agriculture, in the presence of German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Christian Schmidt. DLG President Bartmer hopes that the DLG will be able to contribute to the further development of Iranian agriculture through its know-how in trade fair organisation, field days, machinery and food testing and training farmers.
Agritechnica Asia 2017 in Bangkok
DLG International's portfolio of trade fairs will gain a new project in the coming year, the DLG reports. The first AGRITECHNICA ASIA will be held in parallel with the established VIV Asia from 15-17 March 2017 at the BITEC Fair Ground in Bangkok, Thailand. The goal is to hold the leading trade fair for agricultural machinery in South Asia’s economic region ASEAN, with a focus on plant production.
