Agritechnica Asia – a successful debut in Vietnam
Agritechnica Asia, one of the leading specialist exhibitions in crop farming and smart farming in Asia, celebrated a successful debut in Vietnam, having attracted more than 10,500 visitors. From the 12th to the 14th March, 303 exhibitors from 30 countries presented their solutions and state-of-the-art technologies for the branch in an area of 10,000 square metres.
The guiding theme of this year’s event, which was organised by the German Agriculture Society (Deutsche Landwirtschafts-Gesellschaft – DLG), was “Promoting Green Innovations in Southeast Asia“. Agritechnica Asia was run in conjunction with HortEx Vietnam, the region’s leading professional horticulture and floriculture exhibition, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City. The event was co-hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
“Not only is Vietnam a very promising market, but it is also an up and coming hub for agricultural innovations in Southeast Asia. The success of Agritechnica Asia underscores our engagement in supporting Vietnam’s agricultural growth with technology and knowledge exchange,” commented Jens Kremer, DLG Markets Managing Director.
An important platform for smart and sustainable agriculture
At the exhibition, Agritechnica Asia presented sustainable cultivation methods and smart technologies in order to acquaint the visitors with efficient tools to cope with climate change, food security and natural resource management. World-wide leading agricultural enterprises such as AGCO from the USA, Claas from Germany, Fimaks from Turkey as well as Lovol and XAG from PR China and, last but not least, Pöttinger from Austria demonstrated their latest solutions for the needs of the Vietnamese agricultural sector at the specialist exhibition.
Exhibitors from Germany, India, China, South Korea and Turkey reported strong engagement among Vietnamese cooperatives and regional buyers. “The exhibition has met our expectations. Vietnamese customers’ demand for mechanisation and sustainable technologies matches well with our offers,” said Chuck Shi, General Manager Assistant Director of the Region Southeast Asia II at Lovol.
The Agritechnica Asia conference programme comprised more than 20 international events with 125 speakers headed by international organisations such as the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) – Vietnam, bilateral projects of the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL), the UNESCAP centre for sustainable mechanisation in agriculture and Vietnam’s Nong Lam University.
Co-hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment
Agritechnica Asia and HortEx Vietnam 2025 were the first two international events to be co-organised by the newly structured Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment. The “Vietnam Agriculture and Nature Newspaper“(VAN), the Ministry’s official news bulletin, supported the event.
“I am very pleased that the DLG plans to have Agritechnica Asia held in Vietnam every two years from now on. The exhibition promotes exchange between manufacturers, traders, farmers and organisations which campaign for mechanisation in agricultural production and trade. This is crucial for the agricultural sector to become greener, more modern and more sustainable in the next few years,” said Deputy Minister Tran Thanh Nam of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
In addition, during the event, the DLG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Vietnam Agriculture and Nature Newspaper (VAN) on cooperating in the context of further activities in the agricultural sector.
Agritechnica Asia – Bangkok and Vietnam to take turns
The next Agritechnica Asia is to be held at the Bangkok International Trade & Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in Thailand from the 20th till the 22nd May 2026. Once again HortEx will be attending the event and presenting state-of-the-art floristic and horticultural technologies.
In March 2027, Agritechnica Asia and HortEx are to revisit Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
