Equitable partnerships aligned to the development needs of individuals and organisations, which make their own capabilities an integral component of capacity-building measures, are the centrepiece of the programmes run by InWEnt (Capacity Building International) aimed at advancing the development of rural regions. Its "Capacity to Build Capacity" approach aims to mobilise endogenous resources and potentials. The article describes the core elements of the approach and gives brief examples from practice.
