The Catholic rural and agricultural youth of Senegal and Bavaria have a history of partnership spanning more than fifty years. After World War II, educating young decision-makers was perceived as an important mission for the Catholic youth movement. A similar vision for the era of independence from France prevailed in Senegal. Hence the KJLB of Bavaria and the UJRCS linked up in 1958. On the Bavarian side, helping was initially the predominant concept. Nowadays, however, it is clear that a true partnership stems from personal encounter.
