There is large untapped greenhouse gas mitigation potential in the smallholder agricultural sector in East Africa, which can contribute to climate change mitigation, generate revenue streams for farmers, and enhance agrobiodiversity, while reducing farmers' vulnerability to climate change. The Government of Kenya and the private sector requested technical assistance from the World Bank to develop the carbon asset based on the adoption of sustainable agricultural land management practices. The project in Kenya is developed in a strategic partnership with ECOM Commodities and GTZ.
