Microfinance in the Philippines goes international
Willing to pass on the experience of 8 years of cooperation, the German Sparkassen and CARD, a microfinance institution (MFI) from the Philippines which successfully modified the Grameen methodology, started to support MFIs in the poorest countries of Southern Asia.
In 2004 a trilateral project was initiated with the Vietnam Women´s Union and their microfinance unit TYM Fund, and in 2008 the cooperation was extended to Cambodia and Lao PDR where another 4 MFIs are being supported that share vision and philosophy of the existing partners.
A regional microfinance network in Indochina has thus been established.
